Criminal charges and true crime is a hot topic and entertainment category in the U.S. People are also fascinated by the lifestyles and details of celebrities. So I figured starting the new year off reflecting on celebrity arrests would be interesting. Its also a lesson and reminder of being self conscious in 2020 so we don’t end up in hand cuffs, celebrity or not. Here are 6 big arrests that may spark some interest:
1. Kamiyah Street
Ms. Street is a 20 year old Kennesaw State Women’s Basketball team in Georgia. This woman has received a lot of attention for the reality TV show with her daughter, her weight loss, and alleged issues with substances.
6. Lori Loughlin & Felicity Huffman
Most people, especially MA residents, know about the federal cases of Loughlin and Huffman. Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman were charged in the Massachusetts Federal Court with conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services fraud. Loughlin was alleged to have spent $500,000 to get both of her daughters in to USC as recruiters for the crew team despite their lack of sports affiliation. Huffman was alleged to have paid someone $15,000 to take the SATs for her daughter. Huffman has since pled to this charge and spent approximately one week in jail. Loughlin’s case is still pending.
Some other popular celebrity arrests of 2019 were Chris Brown, Ryan Edwards from Teen Mom, Lil Bow Wow, R Kelly, and Jussie Smollett.
Following celebrity lives is exciting and entertaining but there is also lessons to be taken from the very public actions resulting in these arrests. The law is enforced, even more aggressively in the countries current state, I believe. Be aware of the choices you are making and if you find yourself being arrested do the following:
1. Do NOT speak to police, respectfully assert your right to remain silent and do not waive Miranda.
2. Be cooperative/respectful
